Overall Scores
In this review, you can find all the information you need to decide whether is the right broker for you. Our expert team has thoroughly explored the broker, using a tested methodology and scoring system. This process places importance on the things we know matter most to traders. Below you can see how scored in each of our high-priority categories.
ETFinance fees and commissions
Our review found that ETFinance makes its profits via spreads instead of fees. As such, there are no commissions, making it easier for you to calculate your trades. Spreads are higher than average, however, but ETFinance makes up for this with an incredible range of instruments. ETFinance also does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees when using the majority of accepted payment methods. There are potentially steep inactivity fees, but these should not be a problem for most traders.
Our experts have reviewed ETFinance’s fees based on how they compare with the fees of other reviewed brokers. For each broker, we analyze both trading fees and non-trading fees:
- Trading fees are charged every time you place a trade. They include spreads, commissions, overnight and rollover fees, and currency conversion fees.
- Non-trading fees aren’t directly related to trading, but you should consider them as they make up the cost of using a certain broker. They include payment fees and inactivity fees.
Below you will find a snapshot of the fees charged at ETFinance. Our experts have created these tables based on the fees applied to a Standard account. We consider a Standard account to be the one that will appeal to most traders, often not the cheapest option but not a premium option either.

ETFinance trading fees
When you review the ETFinance forex broker’s trading fees, you’ll find that these vary depending on which account type you open. ETFinance has three account types, each with stricter requirements and lower spreads than the previous.
ETFinance spreads tend to be higher than those of the competitors, but the broker makes up for this with its lack of deposit and withdrawal fees, as well as its impressive range of instruments. The following provides some example spreads for forex pairs based on account type:
- Silver Accounts: EUR/USD from 2.2 pips, GBP/USD from 2.8 pips, EUR/GBP from 2.6 pips
- Gold Accounts: EUR/USD from 1.3 pips, GBP/USD from 2 pips, EUR/GBP from 1.6 pips
- Platinum Accounts: EUR/USD from 0.7 pips, GBP/USD from 1.3 pips, EUR/GBP from 0.9 pips
The following shows the spreads based on account type for key instruments from other asset classes:
- Silver Accounts: Gold from 0.59 pips, Crude Oil from 0.07 pips, Dax from 2.20 pips
- Gold Accounts: Gold from 0.48 pips, Crude Oil from 0.05 pips, Dax from 1.5 pips
To provide a better idea of the best spreads available from ETFinance, consider the following minimum spreads by asset class:
- Indices: ASX 200 from 1.3 pips, FTSE 100 from 1 pip, Hong Kong 50 from 3.3 pips, NASDAQ 100 from 0.9 pips
- Commodities: Brent oil from 0.03 pips, Cotton from 0.25 pips, Palladium from 0.58 pips, XAGUSD from 0.037 pips
- Stocks: All US and Australian stocks have spreads of as low as 0.21 pips, European stocks have spreads from 0.21 pips or 0.021 pips
ETFinance commissions
Our ETFinance review team appreciates that ET Finance does not charge commission fees, as this makes it significantly easier for beginner traders to calculate potential profits.
Financing/overnight rates
ETFinance does charge swap or overnight fees, which is expected. The broker does not calculate these fees itself. Instead, financial partner institutions calculate the rates based on key market conditions, risk management decisions, and other factors. Unfortunately, ETFinance does not list swap rates on its website. However, you can easily find them in MetaTrader or your platform of choice. You may also benefit from swap discounts, of up to 50%, depending on your account type.
Non-trading fees
There are no fees for depositing at ETFinance. Most withdrawal methods do not incur fees either, but there is a fee of €15 for withdrawals made via wire transfer. There is also a 50 euro fee if you withdraw before you have completed more than one trade. Even with those limits, it is easy to take advantage of fee-free withdrawals.
Our team strongly cautions you to tread carefully with inactivity fees when trading with ETFinance. If your account is inactive for two or three months, you will be charged a monthly inactivity fee of €80. This increases to €120 from three to six months and €200 for inactivity for longer than six months. These are among the highest inactivity fees in the industry, yet you can easily avoid them by simply trading at least once a month.
ETFinance safety
Our ETFinance review confirms that this is a reputable and safe broker, thanks to its regulation by CySEC. This regulation includes an authorization for cross-border services in EEA countries. Additionally, ETFinance maintains segregated client funds and offers negative balance protection. The broker is also part of the Investor Compensation Fund, providing you with reassurance in the unlikely event of insolvency.
- Regulated by CySEC
- Negative balance protection
- Segregated client funds
- Investor Compensation Fund for Customers of Cyprus Investment Firms member
- Leverage limits for retail clients

Is ETFinance safe?
Our review methodology considers several factors to ensure that all of our recommended brokers are safe and reputable. Alongside the number and strength of licenses, we also consider:
- What protection and/or insurance ETFinance offers should something go wrong
- ETFinance’s reputation, history, and management
ETFinance client protection
ET Finance offers all EU clients protection via the CySEC Investor Compensation Fund. This protects you in the unlikely event of the broker filing for insolvency. To give you a full overview, the following table outlines what is available.
Client Protection
Country | Legal Entity | Protected Up To | Regulators |
---|---|---|---|
European Economic Area | Magnum FX (Cyprus) Ltd. | €20,000 | CySEC |
Negative balance protection is offered as a standard feature for all ETFinance clients. However, professional clients waive negative balance protection as well as ICF compensation. ETFinance also stores client funds in segregated accounts, meaning this money cannot be used for operational costs or to hedge trades. Each of these accounts is held with a regulated and trusted banking institution.
ETFinance background and reputation
Although ETFinance is still a relatively young broker, our review team found plenty to inspire confidence. Alongside licenses and compensation from CySEC, ETFinance has shown it can weather tough market and economic conditions since its opening in 2018. Additionally, ETFinance has not faced any scandals during this time, showcasing its integrity as a broker.
ETFinance relies on the most advanced hardware and software to ensure client safety. This includes SSL software and rigorous firewalls for data protection. It also includes SAS 70 certification in the data center where the trading server is located, encryption on data transferred between ETFinance servers, and PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment services that are EU regulated for handling financial transactions. Unsurprisingly, ETFinance also complies fully with the European Union’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulation and all international practices related to it.
Opening an account with ETFinance
Our ETFinance broker review found that you can open an account in a matter of minutes, from any device. After this, document verification can take up to two business days, which is about average for the industry. The minimum deposit is reasonably accessible at $250 too. Overall, registering at ETFinance is straightforward and fast.
Is ETFinance available in your country?
As a relatively young Forex broker, ETFinance is still growing. Currently, it is authorized to provide cross-border services to dozens of EEA countries. As ETFinance grows and expands, it is likely that those outside of the European Economic Area will also be able to open ETFinance accounts, although this is not yet the case.

Demo accounts
Our review of ETFinance encourages you to use the free demo account that the broker offers to all registered clients. The demo account features $100,000 in virtual funds. It is particularly valuable if you are a beginner trader, as you can use the demo account to get a feel for the market and practice trading. Advanced traders will also find it perfect for testing new techniques and trading strategies.
The demo account lasts for 14 days upon setup. You can easily extend this by, however, by simply talking to your account manager. To benefit further, switch between the demo account and your live account within the Client Area by clicking “Launch”. This allows you to quickly react to unforeseen market conditions.
Islamic accounts
ETFinance offers an Islamic account, which comes with no swap/interest charges on overnight positions. ETFinance does not add commissions or hidden fees either, nor do they widen the spreads, to make up for the lack of swaps. This allows Islamic clients to enjoy the same benefits and trading conditions as regular account holders but without paying fees that would violate their faith.
ETFinance trading platforms
You can choose from one of two trading platforms with ETFinance, MetaTrader 4 or WebTrader. Whilst our ETFinance reviewers were disappointed to find that the broker doesn’t offer a proprietary platform, the MetaTrader platforms available allow you to trade from any device. You can either download the ever-popular MT4 on desktop or mobile, or you can trade in browser with WebTrader. All platforms also offer a wide range of indicators and drawing tools to allow you to perform technical analysis successfully.

MetaTrader 4 is widely regarded as simple to use, making it simple to review ETFinance broker offerings, spreads, and other information. You will notice that data appears in an intuitive manner that makes it easier for you to make tough trading decisions. MT4 is also known for its interactive charts as well as a range of technical tools, such as indicators and analysis. Conveniently, using this trading platform does not require you to download anything to your computer, and you can access it via a range of web browsers. The user interface of WebTrader is clear, with simple menu and navigation options.

WebTrader also offers a range of charting tools, to help you view data in valuable ways. Take advantage of dozens of indicators and graphical objects such as lines, shapes, and channels. This platform also supports a two-week demo account and gives you access to the MQL5 community, where you can interact with other traders.
What is the execution policy at ETFinance?
Our review team found it challenging to classify the execution strategy of ETFinance as the broker does not explicitly state it anywhere. Based on the broker’s policies as well as analysis from other experts, ETFinance is best classified as a market maker. We have summarized the broker’s Order Execution Policy PDF for you.
The liquidity provider serves as the only execution venue and is always the counterparty or principal for trades. The best execution procedure considers the characteristics of the client, client order, financial instruments, and execution venue. Regardless of your account type, ETFinance offers five decimal pricing, allowing for more accurate quoting and tighter spreads. This is a highly desirable feature for all traders.
One huge benefit of trading with ETFinance is that there is no limit to the number of orders that you can make, neither for pending and market orders nor a combined limit. This makes the broker perfect for high-volume traders.
ETFinance markets and products
One of the stand-out areas in our review of ETFinance is its instrument offerings. While most brokers offer access to a few hundred instruments, ETFinance has an impressive 750, spanning a wide range of popular asset classes. This huge selection provides you with more diversification opportunities than most brokers and allows you to take advantage of unique niches in the markets.
Instrument | Number |
---|---|
Currency Pairs | |
Commodities | |
Precious Metals | |

Currency pairs
Trading forex with ETFinance lets you take advantage of leverage of up to 30:1 for most pairs and 20:1 for exotics with most accounts. You can also access leverage of up to 500:1 with professional accounts. With dozens of currency pairs to select from, ETFinance provides access to the most relevant currencies, regardless of the current news.
Commodities
Professional clients can enjoy leverage of up to 125:1 for commodities, including energy commodities, while retail clients can use leverage of up to 10:1. Those interested in trading energy commodities will find CFDs for Brent Crude Oil (EUR), Light Sweet Crude Oil (USD), Natural Gas (USD), and R.B.O.B. Gasoline (USD). If you are interested in other commodity categories, ETFinance also provides access to cocoa, coffee, corn, cotton #2, natural gas, orange juice, sugar #11, and soybeans.
Precious metals
Leverage for gold is offered at 20:1 for retail clients and up to 125:1 for professional clients. ETFinance has a good selection of precious metals, including gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and copper. Keep in mind that all of these precious metals are traded against the USD only. Whilst this is enough for most traders, if you prefer to trade precious metals against the EUR or GBP, you will need to look elsewhere.
Indices
When trading major indices, retail clients can take advantage of leverage of up to 20:1 or up to 10:1 for minor indices. Leverage for either category can be up to 125:1 for professional clients. Trading indices with ETFinance gives you the ability to trade the overall performance of a given market. Given the large number of instruments available from the broker, our ETFinance forex broker review team is not surprised to find index CFDs from around the world.
In addition to expected indices, like those from the United States, you can also trade rarer international ones. Available indices include the ASX SPI 200 Index, the Borsa Istanbul 100 Index, the China H-Shares Index, the DJ Euro Stoxx Index, the Hang Seng 50 Index, the IBEX 35 Index, the Nikkei 225 Index, the Tel Aviv 35 Index, and Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Shares Index. This selection is a very strong point in favor of ETFinance as it provides you with more opportunities for diversification. It also allows you to take advantage of market movements around the world, instead of just in a few major cities.
Stocks and shares
If you choose to trade stock and share CFDs with ETFinance you can enjoy leverage of up to 5:1, which increases to 50:1 for professional clients. All stocks and shares available from ETFinance are in the form of CFDs, permitting you to trade with leverage and to go long or short.
The selection of stock CFDs at ETFinance is incredibly impressive with dozens and dozens of stocks from the US, including Amazon Corp., Apple Inc., China Mobile LTD, and Johnson & Johnson, among others.
This is supplemented by a similar number of European stocks, such as Adidas AG, Barclays PLC, Cronos, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Infineon Technologies AG, Kaz Minerals, LVMH SA, Deutch Lufthansa, Unilever N.V., and Xiaomi Inc.
ETFinance even offers access to six different Australian stock CFDs, something which very few other brokers offer.
Cryptocurrencies
Cryptocurrencies let you diversify your portfolio while taking advantage of their high volatility. You can trade cryptocurrencies with a 2:1 leverage, regardless of account type. Crypto CFDs let you go long or short and trade with margin, all without having to own the underlying asset and without needing a cryptocurrency wallet.
Even a cursory review of ETFinance’s cryptocurrency CFDs shows that this broker truly excels in this area. Many brokers still do not offer crypto CFDs, and most only have a handful of them. ETFinance offers an impressive 33 pairs, which is more than you will find from nearly every competitor.
The offering includes 21 different cryptocurrencies traded against the USD, six against the euro, and six against the GBP. As such, ETFinance not only has a significantly higher than average selection of cryptocurrency pairs, but it has more opportunities to trade euro and pounds against crypto than most brokers.
ETFs
You can also trade ETFs with ETFinance, with each ETF including baskets of assets like bonds, commodities, and stocks. Examples of ETFs offered by ETFinance include Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences (Cannabis ETF), Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund, Financial Sector Select SPDR Fund, and Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund.
Social trading
Although social trading is not a focus at ETFinance, there is some element of it available via the trading signals and expert advisors supported with MetaTrader 4. Both systems allow you to follow and copy more experienced traders.
ETFinance research tools
Most of the research tools available at ETFinance are offered via the trading platforms. You can find news, trading signals, trade ideas, and expert analysis incorporated into both MT4 and Webtrader. This is convenient, as you do not need to have as many tabs open to trade, however it does mean that there’s no proprietary expert advice. ETFinance clients with Platinum accounts receive access to a free VPS, as well as news alerts.

You can also use expert advisors in MetaTrader 4, which you can set up for automatic trading to follow the strategies of experienced traders. Trade ideas
In addition to indicators and trading signals, you can also review ETFinance trade ideas by accessing the MQL5 community platform. Here, you can glean advice from other traders.
Expert analysis
There is some expert analysis in the Articles section of ETFinance’s Education area, however, this is much more limited than at many other brokers. Articles feature expert insights into specific instruments, although they do not always include technical analysis or even specific figures.
ETFinance education and training
Our review of the ETFinance forex broker finds a very good selection of educational resources for clients to use. Some of the resources are available to all clients, regardless of account types, while others are reserved for premium traders. The education and training tools will help you get started with forex and CFDs, and you can even use them when you’re more experienced to hone your skills.

Platform tutorial videos
You can find platform tutorial videos from ETFinance in two locations. If you go to the Video on Demand page and the MetaTrader tab, you will find four videos. These are “Opening a New Order,” “The Terminal Window,” “Closing an Order,” and “Pending Orders.” You can also visit the Tutorials page and find tutorials for both MetaTrader and MetaTrader Mobile. We suggest beginners review ETFinance’s tutorials on these topics to make sure that you get the most from the trading platforms.
Educational PDFs
ETFinance has an impressive collection of educational PDFs in the form of 11 e-books. While many brokers offer e-books, most only have two or three, so such a vast offering is worth noting. The e-books cover topics for both beginners and advanced traders, including terms, glossaries, beginner’s strategies, global trading, trading psychology, the trading market, basic technical analysis, market analysis, capital management, advanced strategies, and advanced technical analysis. In addition to e-books, ETFinance also boasts educational articles on a range of topics. These cover subjects like futures contracts trading, specific instruments, margin calls, and more.
Live webinars
The live webinars and videos are only available to clients with Gold or Platinum accounts, which is something to keep in mind when selecting your account type. ETFinance typically has at least several webinars a week. Most are in English, although there are occasional webinars in other languages as well. Topics include evergreen subjects like Trading for Beginners as well as current affairs such as COVID-19 vs. indices.
YouTube videos
The Video on Demand section from ETFinance is not technically YouTube videos, but it offers similar functionality. This is one of the best educational resources available from the broker as it is extensive. Videos are divided into categories, including Beginners, Advanced, Terms, and MetaTrader.
Just in the Beginners category, there are videos on “Trading is an art form,” “Chance and Risk,” “Are you an emotional trader?,” “Distributing Risks,” “Buying and selling,” and “Currency Pairs.” ETFinance has even more videos for advanced traders, including “Passive Trading 5/15 Rule,” “Calculating Pips,” “Aggressive Trading 10/30 Rule,” “Market Analysis Types,” “Engulfing+, Downside Gap Three,” and more. Many of these advanced videos will also be interesting for beginners, helping ensure you receive a well-rounded education.
Trading academy
ETFinance offers six different courses for you to take, depending on your skill level and interests. We suggest you start with the “Beginners’ Course” if you are new to trading. Ideally, you will want to take as many of the courses as possible to maximize your skills. In addition to the “Beginners’ Course,” the five other courses are “The Trading Market,” “Trading Tools,” “Social Trading,” “CFDs and Stocks,” and “Trading Strategies”.
Each of these courses features a set of educational videos within the given category. Impressively, there is little to no overlap with these videos and those in the Video on Demand section of ETFinance. This shows that ETFinance put a great deal of effort into its educational content.
Trading glossary
There are two glossaries available from ETFinance, both of which are e-books. The Glossary e-book and the Terms e-book should help you understand concepts and terms as a beginner.
ETFinance customer support
YOur ETFinance review found that this broker has highly-rated customer support, which is available via live chat, email, or phone. The physical address of ETFinance is also readily accessible, and the broker has social media pages for further interactions and transparency. Customer support access is the same regardless of account type, although Gold and Platinum accounts receive dedicated account managers.

- Email: [email protected]
- Physical address: KPMG Center, 1 Agias Fylaxeos Street, 2nd Floor – Office 1, 3025 Limassol, Cyprus
ETFinance is not as clear as we would like in regard to customer support hours. In some areas, such as the professional account page, the broker indicates that all clients receive 24/5 multilingual customer support. However, at the bottom of the website, it indicates that support is just from Monday through Friday from 7 to 19 GMT each day, which would just be 12 hours a day, five days a week.
Although ETFinance’s customer support hours are slightly unclear, the level of support is high. This is confirmed via reviews and honors, such as the title of “Best Customer Service” from the ADVFN International Financial Awards 2020.
As this is a very recent honor, you can safely assume that ETFinance’s customer support and service remain first-rate.

ETFinance mobile compatibility
If you prefer to review ETFinance on your mobile device, you should be aware that a very small amount of information gets cut off on the website, unless you put your device in landscape mode. This is a common issue among brokers and is easily remedied by rotating your device or using a computer.
In terms of trading, mobile applications ensure that you get full functionality on the go. Between the MetaTrader 4 applications for Android and iOS and the proprietary ETFinance mobile trading application, you should have no problem trading from anywhere.
ETFinance – Our verdict
After completing a thorough review of ETFinance, we feel confident in recommending them as a reputable broker. Regulation from CySEC, combined with security measures and client fund protection, provide confidence. You will also appreciate the lack of commission, deposit, and withdrawal fees. No matter your skill level, you’ll also benefit from the familiar platforms, extensive educational content, and the inclusion of more than 750 instruments to trade.
